Well I do have to say that I have been reading the sports section again and looking forward to seeing sports on the news. I am looking for any information I can get on hockey. I am especially interested in how my team is setting things up. Who are we signing? Who are we going to put on waivers etc. Mostly though just making sure that we sign our boy wonder #61 Rick Nash and that Tyler Wright is not put up for grabs or anything. My heart would crack if he were to be traded. It's just exciting to see things back in action. I cannot wait till the season opener. I know that place will be electric. It always is for the first official game of the season but this time I have a feeling the hockey starved fans of Columbus will blow the roof off of Nationwide arena. I am gonna be there and I cannot wait. Game on kids!
I found out I get to attend 2 meetings next week woo hoo. One is at the Aladdin shrine temple it is at 8 am in the morning. So that means I have to get up at like 6 am get to work by 7 meet up with Amanda and drive across town in morning rush hour traffic. What a pisser. Then the very next day I will have to get my not a morning person at all self out of bed about the same time and drive clear to circleville Ohio for another meeting that is going to last about 6 hours. The trip to circleville is not that bad with the traffic and all because your going from the city to a little town. Anyways I am sure it will be boring as they usually are but I have to do it. At least I finally talked management into letting Amanda go with me to our spring and summer show. Good thing to cause no management will be able to attend with me and I sure as heck did not want to go by myself. Oh and yes I did say spring and summer show up there. So I will be oredering my spring and summer stuff for next year within a few weeks and summer is not even over yet! Ah the joys of my job. You have to really plan and think ahead. For instance I ordered my Christmas stuff in like April. Takes awhile for that boat to get over here to America with all that cargo. Plus retailers just keep pushing holiday items out as early as they can. Doing this job sometimes makes you really jaded as far as the holidays are concerned. In my dept we basically have to be back the night the holiday is over or very the next day to set up the next one. Then you get those customers and their "Gee your putting out (insert holiday here) stuff already? " Well yeah I guess we are because we are not going to leave it in the backroom because chances are it has allready been in the store 2 weeks by that point pissing all the other departments off cause somehow or at some point it is in their way. Not to mention we just can't leave 80 feet of shelving empty for you to put stuff on that you decided not to buy. Believe me I don't like putting out all the Easter stuff the very night or next day after Valentines but it's my job and I have to do it. I would rather do it that way though than just put a bunch of filler stuff in the aisle for a few weeks and have to turn around tear it down and find somewhere for all of it to go then proceed to build the aisle all over again. So yeah damnnit in just a mere few weeks I will be putting out Halloween already so deal with it.
So yeah I am in major gripe mode about work but sometimes you just have to get it off your chest. I also found out today that I was given a problem empolyee from another department. Way 2 go for me huh!
I doubt this person will last long with me though. I don't take shit from anyone. I think that may be the point here though. So again Game on kids! Make sure you all have the proper saftey equipment before you come to the game. Anywho enough about work I spend enough time and energy on that place.
I am happy to say that the heat has finally broken here for a week or so thank God! It was just plain unbearable some days. It's going to be in the 80's for the remainder of the week and into most of next. So I can finally go outside again! I don't do heat well. Well I do believe that is all for now kids so until next time go buy a cool cd or something.
Well today we are going to talk about my favorite band. Go ahead get excited kids. Anyways I had the pleasure of seeing them in concert again Saturday July 23 at Germain here in Columbus. This was my third time seeing them and as always it was a great show but this time things were a little different. See the first time I saw them was in Cleveland Ohio at Gund arena they were fairly new and were the opener for Creed. So nothing fancy just them on stage but a kick ass show. The second time I had the pleasure of seeing them was here in Columbus at Promo West Pavilion. I could not tell you who opened for them or anything but again it was just them onstage singing their songs nothing fancy and it was yet again a kick ass show. Also because it was a birthday present to me from my friend Nick.
Now the thing about this show was..... They were the headliner and compared to PromoWest Germain is huge. So they had a full stage production. I am talking video screens, pyrotechnics, major lights you name it. So this made for one heck of show plus they sounded great as usual. Of course though that big show means one thing my favorite band is getting huge! Now that is great for them and me too I suppose but see this time I had fairly decent seats but at the previous show it was a very intimate arena and we were so close. So my favorite band becoming more popular has it's pro's and con's. Anyways if you have not seen them in concert I recommend you do so. If it is a small or big show it's always a good show they give you your money's worth.
Also my friend Nick bought me a 3 Doors Down shirt at the concert it was my belated B-day gift. Thanks Nick. Anyways also at the show they had this band called no adress they pretty much sucked live. Then one of my other fave bands Breaking Benjiamin was an opener uh I so wanted to see them last time they were here and it sold out I was so bummed. Anyways they rocked. I like their symbol they have for their band it would make a good tattoo. It has a meaning and when i can find a picture of it and the meaning to it I will post it on here. Also Stained played after B.B. I am not a big fan of them or their songs they are a bit on the whiney side to me and they sound alike. So we walked around for a bit for that group. So I had a kick ass time and I cannot wait for them to come back.
My next cool thing I get to do is August 11th. I am going to see the Phantom of the opera. I have seen it once before and it is an enchanting Broadway show. I am glad to be going again. Also the Ohio State fair is in August so I have to figure out which day I am going to that! Got to love that fair food. I have quite a bit on tap in August really. Lots of Dr. appointments stuff like that. I just hope this stupid heat wave breaks eventually. It was supposed to be the hottest day here today so far this summer and it did not dissapoint. It did cause one heck of a thunderstorm though knocked the power and everything out for like 2 1/2 hours. Of course now after the rain it's just steaming outside. So that's all I have to say for right now so until next time kids " Your getting closer to pushing me off of life's litte ledge" 3-Doors Down
Okay so I don't think I ever talked about the Eminem concert. It was a great concert. Em was there along with D-12, Lil Jon & the eastside boyz, Obie Trice and Ludacris. Of course it rained and we were under the roof but we were on the edge and it poured. We were eight seats into the row under the roof and the rain came in sideways. Of course it could have been much worse we could have been on the lawn. Those people got soaked. Anyways they are saying this may be Em's last tour and Encore was supposedly his last. He is going to be a producer rather than a performance artist. I hope he is not finished but he may want to go out on top.
Onto other things I bought some new patio furniture it's a great set ten pieces and has cushions and everything. Very comfy. So I had a cookout. I had the girls over from my dept so we could all just relax and have fun. Not much about work was talked about which is always a good thing and they had fun so we plan to do it again. It was supposed to be a whole dept thing but the boys had "other" things to do so they didn't come and they missed out. Also had my friend Nick over and Tami came and brought her baby Jace. He is such a good and happy baby. He is so cute. He has the biggest eyes and long eyelashes. Then Brian finally got home he worked half a day and his backup Chad came over and 2 of the girls left so me him Tami and Nick and Brian hit the patio and was outside relaxing cause the heat had finally broke and there was a nice breeze and about 30 mins into just hanging out back watching the lightning here comes the rain. So we moved the party in the house and played some Yahtzee and Scattergories. We had fun.
This Saturday is my 3doors down concert. Cannot wait for that. I will also post about it. Anyways not much else to report.
I am happy to say hockey is back! This is very exciting news to me at least. Now there will be something to do this winter. Today on the front page of the news paper they had my favorite player #28 Tyler Wright in one of the pictures they had taken from a previous game. I was like woo hoo " My Tyler is on the front page" So of course I had to buy it. That and the whole big story about the game being back on. I don't know if the NHL will still have the following it once did but I hope they still do here in Columbus. I don't see that being much of a problem though because there is not much else to do here in the winter. The city has really embraced the whole NHL and the Columbus Blue Jackets organization. So I say game on and "Let's go Jackets"
Not much else has been going on really. Will Bill and I are still having our whole who's website is better. I say mine is right now because at least I have been posting. His is just hanging there in cyberspace wasting space! HA. Anyways just been working and planning our big Harry Potter book release party for tomorrow night. FUN FUN! I think it's a little nutty but I do think that it's great this many kids are reading and into these books enough to want them the very first minute they come out. The last books I remeber even having a smidge of that effect on kids was the R.L. Stine Goosebumbs books and I don't believe they came anywhere near the Harry Potter series. Anyhow that is going to be all from me tonight so until next time " Today is the first day of the rest of your life".
Holiday?? What holiday? Yeah that was my fourth of July weekend. I did not get to go to one cookout or anything. Did not go see any fireworks either. So no grilled goodies for me. God I just love my job so much sometimes! Kids stay in school and go to college! Of course some of those high paying college degree jobs are not all they are cracked up to be either. For instance in most companies there is only room at the top for one and as you can imagine there are plenty of others that want to be in the top spot. So what are your odds? Guess it depends on how many hours you want to work and how many asses you want to kiss. That in itself though is still no sure bet that you will be noticed for effort. Plus it adds up to how many people that like you and will work with you etc.. and keep the drama to a minimum. Which we all know is everywhere. Anyways those 15 hours days are they worth the extra 10 grand a year? So yeah stay in school.
Anyways guess there was drama at work today glad I was out of there at that point. Our new store manager is enforcing the tardy policy again. Might be looking for a job soon HA! If anyone knows me you know that I will be late for my own funeral. Which in itself is not a bad thing. I dunno I think some people are just wired to be late and I am a firm believer I am one of those people. Anyhow during the meeting I guess he was like we may lose some important people but we need to weed out the problems etc. This guy just seems not to care about his employees. Just some of the comments I have heard come from his mouth leads me to believe this. So if thats how it is going to be then whatever. I work crazy hours some weeks. Work a first come home get some sleep and then back in for a third but I guess that does not count. Just because he can be up till 2 in the morning (which he is he says so) get up a few hours later and roll into work at 6 am and stay 9 or 10 hours does not mean we can all do that. I am not condoning being habitually late or anything of the sort and I know people need to be one time. Life happens sometimes though. I also know that when I am needed and when something important is going down I am there no matter the hour and I am on time and we look good. I have a great crew and they help me get it right. Again though it just does not count. I also got a call from one of my other managers this evening about when I woke up and she was telling me about one of my employees etc. So I called him left him a message he calls me back and tells me his version of the day. I don't know. It all gets old sometimes. I just management is a bit stressed lately due to some issues. I think it gets brought to the surface with us sometimes whether they mean for it to or not. It happens we are all guilty of it. Sometimes you take shit out on the wrong people.
Enough about work I spend to much time there as it is.Things in the world are irritating me. I keep seeing all the stories of all the kids kidnapped and molested. I hate that shit and unfortunatly it's a reality and I don't know why. What causes someone to want to be sexual with a little child??? I just cannot grasp this. I guess I should be thankful that I can't. It just really pisses me off. Seriously are these people wired different or were their childhoods really that bad? There are many people in this world that have suffered horrible childhoods, abuse you name it they turned out okay and crusaders. Who knows what really is wrong with child molesters and what makes them tick. It's just a sad terrible thing and people wonder why I don't want to have kids. I know that the chances of that happening are rare but I would not want to be that rare case and have my child kidnapped and God know what else. It's a scary world out there. I know it always has been but lately it just seems worse to me.
Today I got off work at like 8:45 am came home and I crashed hard. Slept till about 4 got up had some dinner and just chilled out. Then I decided to clean the bathroom and I gave my 2 labs a bath. I did not bother with my boxer-rot mix because well you try dragging a 95 pound dog into the bathroom then picking her up against her will mind you and put her in the tub. Then you have to keep her in the tub all the while trying to soap her up and rinse her off.The labs go willingly and they are cool with the whole bath process for about the first 5 mins then they get antsy. Still easier than my Rot mix. I do think that she believes she will melt if she gets wet. She will not even go outside to pee if it is raining she will hold it till she cannot stand it than run out to the bottom of the steps do her thing then run right back in. Anyways 2 out of 3 is not bad.
Anyways I hope everyone had a good safe and fun holiday and I hope you all remembered the true reason for the holiday itself. So until next time kids "Say a prayer for all the ones who are not afraid to walk the line and defend our freedom and for the ones who did just that and lost their lives in the process"
Well where does the time go? Anyways since I have posted last here is what I have done. I have worked bunches. I also went to see the group Seether in concert Wed. night. Not a bad show they rocked. I thought the first band sucked though. I was going to go to Red, White, & Boom downtown but as the hour drew near I was like ah to hell with it. I did not feel like battling the crowds and the long walk. So we stayed home and watched it on the telly. It was just not the same by any means. Usually I am so hyped to go downtown but I guess maybe my age is showing!!! Not good!
The other day Thursday night actually I took my mom to a reke session she really liked it. She noticed a big difference when it was done. Anyways after that we grabbed a quick bite and met up with my friends Jeff, Vicki, and her oldest daughter Misty. We went to see the movie War of the worlds. Here is my take on the movie. I just really did not care for it at all. The ending seemed rushed there was not much to the story line in all honesty it just centered around Tom Cruise and his kids in the movie. The first hour was kind of good the suspense and all. The special effects were really good. Overall though I was mega dissapointed. I would have to say the best movie I have seen this summer is Star Wars. Oh also the actual aliens when they finally show them seem very familiar. In fact so much so that I would dare to guess that Speilburg borrowed the from the Independance day set. Anyways that has been my life the past few days.
Here are a few more rants though my dogs have been driving me nuts. They are very much like children sometimes and I think I need a vacation from them. HA! I do love my puppies though they just can be little spaz's sometimes. In about a week I get to go see Eminem excited about that. I hope and pray it's not going to be 90+ degrees that day since it is an outdoor show. I hate hot weather. Today's weather is perfect I would say it's about 75-80 degrees nice wind just perfect. Why can't the majority of the summer days be like today?
Well that is all that I have to contribute for now kids so until next time........ " Stay in school".
